EMDR

EMDR is a revolutionary therapy proven by research to be effective in helping people process emotionally painful and traumatic experiences. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) has already helped thousands of clients plagued by terrible abuse memories or traumatic events. It has also been found to benefit clients who have not attained much relief with other more conventional therapies. EMDR is a simple, non-invasive client-therapist collaboration in which healing can happen rapidly and does not involve the use of drugs or hypnosis.

EMDR therapy incorporates eye movements into a comprehensive approach that processes and releases information trapped in the body’s information processing system, freeing people from disturbing images and body sensations, debilitating emotions and negative beliefs. The EMDR technique is most effective when used in conjunction with other traditional methods of therapy. Not only does healing occur much more rapidly, but clients often experience a sense of joy, openness and deep connection with themselves and others.

The kinds of problems that are shown to respond well to EMDR include:

  • Traumatic events (such as rape, victim of or witness to violent crime, sexual and physical abuse, natural disasters, car accidents, medical procedures/surgeries)
  • Fears, phobias, anxiety, panic attacks
  • Post Traumatic Stress
  • Childhood Traumas
  • Performance and Test Anxiety
